The Garmin eTrek H is a fantastic GPS which is both robust and intuitive to use. As the cheapest of the eTrek range it is also extremely good value for money. The disadvantage with the eTrek H is the lack of an electronic compass to provide bearing information while you're standing still.
The eTrek Summit HC solves this as it has a built in electronic compass which is an extremely valuable addition to an already fantastic tool and its barometric altimeter tracks changes in pressure to pinpoint your precise altitude. These additions give the Summit HC a shorter battery life than the eTrek H but you certainly more than benefit with the increased useability

The Direttissima is a fantastic all round Climbing pack with sufficient kit loops and techy features to make the pack useable without falling into the trap of having straps everywhere.
